I put a new photo set up on flickr, we got to tour the new art museum in Roanoke yesterday before it opens this weekend. Maybe I’ll get into architectural photography…

Paul’s new toy

Our friend Paul came down to visit last weekend with his new motorcycle and asked us to take some photos. Here are a few of the good ones.

Camera phone

So I’ve decided that since I don’t carry a decent camera around with me everywhere, I’m going to start trying to post photos taken with my camera phone. Some will be artistic, some will be purely documentary. Some will be post-processed, some will be right out of the phone.

To start things off: There is an entrance to a train tunnel 50 feet from our house (it’s down in a ravine, so the noise isn’t horrible). We always hear the trains, but have never seen one. So, imagine my giddyness when walking the dog this morning on the Huckleberry and a coal train comes rumbling on by.

In other news, we now have a dog.

Eventually I’d like to be able to post straight from my phone…I’ve been trying to get postie to work for me, but it’s not quite doing what I want.

A couple more from my ongoing effort to scan and process recent films.

The first is from a winter hike at mountain lake with jeff. The second is from the O. Winston Link museum in downtown Roanoke.

I’m not dead

Ok, so 2 weeks between posts is pretty pathetic. I thought I’d be better about this but I’ve been busier than usual. So here’s the roundup:

Issue #7 is done, our biggest yet. There are some good articles. I did a shoot at Blacksburg’s new skate park and think the photos tuned out pretty nice:

Christina and I just signed the lease for the place we’re going to be moving into in August, so were pretty psyched about that. We’re also starting to plan the wedding…craziness.

On a completely random note, this is rather amazing:

A couple shots from a creepy house on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Geoff (not Jeff)

Thursday, March 6th, 2008

I met a photographer last night while shooting a house show for 16 Blocks’ upcoming issue. His name was Geoff (didn’t give his last) and he was traveling with Emotron and Mose Giganticus. Geoff intrigued me because of the Leica M8 and Sunpak Panel Flashes he had, not a setup you see everyday (especially in Blacksburg). He also shot from the hip, not once looking through the view finder, flash in one hand, camera in the other.

I talked to him pretty briefly and he told me to check out his stuff here. Pretty cool, I’ve always really liked the feel of the Leica Rangefinder images.

A few more from my Grandpa’s Birthday.

Scan-o-rama pt.1

I recently scanned a whole bunch of film (basically everything I had shot since August) and will be posting some of them at intervals as I get a chance to make them look good.

Here’s a few from my Grandpa Trimble’s 80th Birthday celebration in Bolinas, CA in August.
